There's the Mr. Wright I miss. HAHAHAHA. But, seriously where are you staying? How have you been? Did you move out of state? country? Highschool is going okay, I guess. Grades are kicking my butt still just like Middle School. Lol. Have a good day Mr. Wright. You are one of the reasons I actually want to pay attention in English class but, there will never be a class that will make me as happy and responsive like yours did. Thanks again Mr. Wright! Little Boxes

Mr. Wright,

I was a History/English student of yours at Morrill in 1993. You also taught me and a handful of others how to develop film in that tiny room behind our class after school. I was a C student on a good day. But you shocked me at our 8th grade commencement with a writing award.

Anyways. I saw in the news that Pete Seeger passed away this morning. I'm not a fan. But his song "Little Boxes" always reminds me of you and your class. You played it several times and let us discuss its meaning. That was a thought-provoking lesson and obviously left a lasting impression.

You were an awesome teacher and I was lucky to have crossed your path. I’m just sorry it took more than 20 years and the death of a folk musician to get around to thanking you.

I hope and trust this message finds you good spirits and fine health.

Wow. Those were good days. Thank you reminding me. Good memories like that help balance out the bad memories of a couple of butt-head principals that came later.

I loved developing film and printing photographs and it was wonderful to share that with others.

A C student getting a writing award? Yep, some really good writers were D and F students too.

I'm glad you remembered Little Boxes and I hope nobody has put you into one.

Well, I enjoyed teaching and I miss it. That's for sure. Too bad I got too old, but that's what people do. As for retirement, I haven't yet stumbled on a good way to make use of it. I sleep in, wear sweat pants, putter around, drink coffee, talk to my chickens, feed my dog, read, wait for the mailman, look out the window. I was going to run for mayor of San Jose but they wanted a filing fee so I passed on that.

Hi Mr. Wright!

It's nearly 3 AM but I can't sleep and it's summer anyway so I thought I'd write you. On your website. 

I can't believe it has already been 3 years since I first had you for language arts in 7th grade. I almost wasn't in your class, I was supposed to have Ms. Aggarwal for LA. But my schedule had two science classes and I got to pick one which resulted in my LA and History spots being switched and your class being the only available LA class I could be put into. That was a hectic day for me.

Anyway, I'm going to be a sophomore. Wow. 10th grade already. 

Freshman year was crazy, I hated English 1A and ended up having to see the therapist on campus and only went twice and a lot of other crazy things happened in between. I'm not excited for English 2A and regret picking that class. 

So, how are you? I miss having you as a teacher. I still remember those scary stories you told us on Halloween, and they still scare me today. I believed them until the end of eighth grade year. Remember how I was always so easily scared? And how sensitive I was? I'm not like that anymore. 

Okay, so, that was my mini letter/update to you! I'll talk about what we learned in English 1A and what books we read at some other point.

That’s a yes or no question in which the answer no can’t be given.

Be that as it may, the answer is yes.

North Korea hasn’t bombed us yet and every time a poisonous snake knocks on the door, I pretend I’m not home.

And though a lot of people die in their 60’s of old age, that hasn’t happened to me yet.
